Already making a name for himself on the Gospel scene, South London artist Séyi is now ready to break the mainstream market.

After the success of his first mixtape ‘Late Arrival’ he is back with a new release ‘Pretender’
Taken from his forthcoming ‘Resolution’ project, Séyi describes his sound as Pop/RnB with a bit of Soul.
Not content with being simply a singer the 23 year old is also part of a production team called SOS and has worked with many new UK artists including PW, Abel Miller and Ghetts. On top of this he is also a songwriter for artists like Amplify Dot, Chip and Rascals which sees him splitting his time between London and LA.
With his smooth laid back tunes (go to his Soundcloud and listen to ‘It’s Christmas’ OMG soooo soothing) and his musical ability it seems like we may have found the UKs answer to Neyo.

Kay 2

West London based Kay 2 & The Strange Days release their self produced debut mixtape ‘The Strangest Day’.
At 17 tracks deep, ‘The Strangest Day’ is a collection of some of Kay 2 & The Strange Day’s best work to date. Comprised of abstract sampling, gentle guitar riffs, string sections and honest chorus lines, the mixtape takes listeners on a journey through British life viewed in the eyes of two music loving, weed smoking, thought consumed teenagers, who are just trying to make sense of ever present madness unravelling in front of their eyes.

Shivz Dotz

With the forthcoming release of Authentic, Shivz Dotz talks mixtapes with FU:
Why are mixtapes so important to you?
Because its a deep connection with fans & supporters. Mixtapes help to maintain a worldwide buzz & keep my audience occupied while I'm working on the album.

How do you decide what will go on your mixtapes?
I don't, I just record whatever I'm feeling on that day because mixtapes are just a bit of fun really.

What do you hope to achieve by releasing a mixtape?
As well as pleasing my current audience I'd like to achieve new listeners.

You've released 9 mixtapes so far, how do you make sure they're all different and don't sound the same?
On every mixtape there's growth, progression & the things I have encountered on my journey

How do you choose which songs you will release videos for? Or do you just choose you favorite song and make a video for it?
Its more to do with whichever tune gasses up who is in the studio with me to the point where they're like "You have to do a video for that one"

At the moment your mixtapes are free, but when you get signed to a major & get all famous, do you think you may then start charging for them?
No No Hell No NEVER will I charge for mixtapes, It's always to please & gain new fans so that when I release an album there's no complaints on buying it because I've already given so much free music out to the public.

How often do you feel artists should be releasing mixtapes?
Every artist has a different style that works for them, but I've released 2 a year every year since I was 16. My 9th was in April & now my 10th mixtape titled Authentic will be out August 8th.

Why should everyone download your mixtape? What makes it so special, how is it different to all the other billions of mixtapes out there at the moment?
Well ... My concepts different from your average mixtape. The view point I speak from means theres at least 1 track on there that people from different walks of life would be able to listen & relate to.
