Crimeson

FU interviewed 22 year old Bajan artist Crimeson:

How did you get the name Crimeson?

I used to rap and I did a song that had a hook with " Crime son " at the end, so the name just stuck from there.

How did you get your start?

I did a track called 'Don't Ask Me' and because it was being shared via cellphone, word of mouth and internet it eventually started reaching DJs.DJ Indian then organised the official radio edit and got it circulating on the radio, which really made my music career take off.

What genre of music do you do?

Bajan Dancehall/Soca

What inspires your songs?

Bajan Sayings, everyday experiences whether it be mine or someone else's, Bajan culture and listening to the older folk talk etc

What kind of stuff do you sing about?

I try to sing about reality and be as truthful as I can. So an issue that affects people on a whole, will most likely become a topic for one of my songs.

Who do you look up to in the industry?
Lil Rick

Whats the biggest/best show you've done so far?

I would have to say the Luciano Show which was at Brandons Beach in Barbados. To get on the line up with an international superstar was a real privilege.

Your song 'Don't ask me' got a lot of attention in Barbados but was it based on a true story...?
Of course it is based on a true story, not my story, but the story of thousands or even millions all over the world.
Who would your dream collaboration be with?

Lil Rick or Rihanna.

Do you have any mixtapes, albums or EPs out?

I have a mix tape out called Bajan Pride.

Whats next for you?

I have recently become a Banks Beer ambassador, but apart from that I am not sure, I only started singing in September 2011, so this is still surprising for me. My management Renaissance Entertainment is constantly looking for opportunities for me, but I am eager and love singing so where ever the music takes me, I will go.
Don't ask me
